The year was 1993. The UK was belting Whitney’s ‘I will always love you’ on the karaoke and marvelling at Spielberg’s dinosaur epic on the big screen. It was when a 24-year-old entrepreneur Nik Hardy took his first steps into the business world – from apprentice to business owner. It was the 1st of August when Nik initiated what is now a well-loved family business that counts many accolades. From Small Business of the Year to Manufacturer of the Year three times, the business has achieved over ten awards, over 10,000 customers and over 1 million signs manufactured.

Nik and his ever-growing team have created a trusted and respected voice in the signage industry and the broader business community across the Midlands and the whole of the UK. This year has seen the team grow to the biggest it has ever been in response to increased demand, new technology and machinery. Hardy Signs remain committed to offering the highest possible customer service and products.

In Hardy Signs tradition, we are thrilled to share our annual company video with a slight twist. We have created a video inspired by the 1993 classic Jurassic Park to mark three decades of excellence this year. The Spielberg epic was the year’s highest-grossing movie and changed cinema forever. Fun fact! They also celebrated the anniversary of their release a couple of weeks ago. Our video aimed to honour this movie, showcasing what we do as a business and our 30-year history, hopefully making people laugh along the way.

Our comedic short film depicts two explorers who venture into the world of Hardy Signs, a manufacturing signage company in the midlands where all the employees are dinosaurs. MD Nik Hardy takes the explorers on a tour of the building, and to their amazement, they see the dinosaur’s metal welding, printing, wrapping a car, and much more. Nik leads the explorers through the rest of the tour to explain the company’s history and his unusual workforce…

We hope you love our short film as much as we loved making it!

Nik Hardy, managing director of Hardy Signs, said: “What a journey it has been so far! Over the last few years, our team has managed to secure projects with leading UK, European and North American brands. Within the past 24 months, we have been contracted by the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022, a major regional shopping centre, and many other household names. We are keenly committed to the environment, prioritising best practices in our manufacturing processes to complete this vision. As we continue to grow, we understand the significance of a strong team. Thus, we remain firmly committed to putting a lot of financial resources into new technologies and staff development. Here’s to the next 30 years!”

In 2023, Hardy Signs are delighted to have been chosen as the winners for the Manufacturer of the Year at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Awards 2023. The award celebrates a company that has excelled in Manufacturing over the past three years.
