As part of their vision to connect people with the broader city and its innovation ecosystem, they required a digital solution that was both engaging and informative. Hardy Signs delivered with a 50” interactive touch screen kiosk, fully equipped with an interactive map of Derby.
Derby Lab needed a modern, user-friendly way to present information about key locations across the city. With visitors ranging from professionals to students and business owners, the aim was to create a digital platform that supports wayfinding, promotes local initiatives, and showcases Derby’s innovation hubs – all in a single, accessible display.
The challenge was to find a solution that not only looked sleek and professional but could also adapt to future needs, including content updates and new areas of focus.
Following a detailed consultation with the Derby Lab team, Hardy Signs supplied and installed a 50” interactive touch screen kiosk designed to deliver a high-quality user experience. The kiosk featured a fully interactive map of Derby, allowing users to explore key zones and learn more about each area through dynamic on-screen content.
From concept to completion, our in-house team managed every aspect of the project. The freestanding digital unit was installed and tested on-site, ensuring it functioned smoothly from day one. The software powering the kiosk is cloud-based, giving Derby Lab the flexibility to update content and evolve the map as the city continues to grow.
We also invited the team to our headquarters in Burton-on-Trent for a training day to ensure they felt confident using and programming the screen.
Since installation, the touch screen kiosk has become a key feature within Derby Lab, capturing the attention of visitors and providing a valuable source of information.
