Hardy Signs have partnered with Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) to launch a new Hardy Signs – Sign and Print Academy. The Academy will train and develop students in all areas of the sign and print industry.

With the support of Hardy Signs, the College is enhancing its creative curriculum to fill the skills gap, within the creative industry. “We are delighted to be working with Burton and South Derbyshire College and to share our expertise to develop the next generation of sign makers” remarked Nik Hardy (Founder & Managing Director of Hardy Signs).

The newly created Sign and Print Academy is equipped to industry standards and will prepare students for taking up a career in the signage industry. BSDC offer courses and skills which make it easier for apprentices to make a smooth transition into the workplace.

“It is a proud day for our company and for the college as a whole. By providing sign making skills and training it is a long term investment and an important landmark in the sign making industry in our region” added Nik Hardy.

The new academy was officially opened by Andrew Street CBE, Chair of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and MD of John Lewis and Nik Hardy, MD of Hardy Signs Ltd on Friday 4th March 2016.

Chris Beech, Director of Creative & Digital Industries said: “The Sign and Print Academy in partnership with Hardy Signs will ensure learners are skilled and experienced in the end-to-end process, from design to final output for the consumer. The multi-purpose facility is a cross-curricular response to the skills demands of the local industry.”

Hardy Signs have always been proactive in taking on apprentices within its various departments. Recently one of the design apprentices from BSDC, Ben White has been offered a full-time position at Hardy Signs.
