Hardy's Signs expand U.S. Healthcare... in Runcorn

May 10th 2010

This May, American based company Medline, have been busy setting up their UK-wide distribution centre at Manor Point, Runcorn, in the northwest… and Hardy Signs have been on hand to help.

The company, USA’s largest manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies had requested Hardy Signs services from the very beginning and having just secured a contract for the 132,000 square foot warehouse, were keen to get operational.

“We were initially asked to survey the site in the very early stages” said project manager Tom Hardy. “In fact on our original visit, the building itself was still a only a shell and construction work was still underway”

Working to a tight deadline, in order for signage to be in place when construction was complete, Hardy Signs offered the entire package from design, manufacture and installation. “Having worked on many similar projects, we were able to offer advice across the site on Health and Safety signs and requirements, as well as traffic management” continued Tom.

The main signage consisted of two flexible face sign units… each at over 24 square meters in size, and located at a height of 12 meters on the side of the giant warehouse. This signage allows large areas to be covered without the need for breaking the sign into sections… the face is a single piece of flexible PVC, full colour printed to the design required, and then stretched across a purpose fabricated aluminium casing.

In order to successfully install these signs, the installation team utilized a self propelled boom lift for which they are fully qualified to operate. In addition, the team installed scores of health and safety and traffic signage across the site and the grounds, ensuring that the medical giants are compliant with all the necessary UK and EU legislation.

Hardy Signs were also able to custom manufacture and install an array of magnetic, dry wipe notice boards for the day to day running of the warehouse – an effective way to display information from driver manifests to packing lists. “In a warehouse of this size, these are an invaluable tool in organization, making the entire process more efficient for the company” explained Tom.

Managing Director Nik Hardy concluded “In Hardy Signs, Medline were looking for a company that could comfortably work with the appointed deadline and to the highest quality. In addition we were pleased to have been recommended by a previous client who had already benefited from our services and had no hesitation in advocating Hardy Signs for this project.
